The Pakistan Red Crescent Society Provincial Headquarters (PRCS PHQ), in collaboration with the District Routine Immunization Project, Bannu, successfully conducted a two-day VPD (Vaccine-Preventable Diseases) Surveillance Training aimed at strengthening public health response and community engagement.

The training covered essential topics including:

  • Public Health and Epidemiology

  • Disease Surveillance

  • Basic Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI)

  • Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE)

Designed for health and field staff, the sessions focused on enhancing participants’ skills in:

  • Case detection and reporting

  • Field investigation of vaccine-preventable diseases

  • Engaging communities to raise awareness and improve vaccination coverage

The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the successful completion of training by all participants and encouraging continued application of their skills in improving public health outcomes.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Bannu Branch proudly announces the successful completion of the two-day Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Training for Routine Immunization (RI) Programme field staff in District Bannu. The training served as a significant step toward enhancing the capacity of frontline health workers and improving community health outcomes through effective communication and behaviour change strategies.

Building Skills to Strengthen Community Health

The SBCC training was designed to empower field staff with practical tools and knowledge to strengthen community engagement and address challenges commonly faced in routine immunization activities. The sessions covered a wide range of important topics, including:

  • Understanding SBCC principles and their relevance to public health

  • Identifying social, cultural, and behavioural barriers to immunization

  • Effective interpersonal communication and community mobilization

  • Techniques to build trust and encourage positive health-seeking behaviours

  • Strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and misinformation

  • Developing clear, culturally appropriate health messages

Through group discussions, case studies, and interactive learning exercises, participants gained a deeper understanding of how improved communication can lead to increased immunization acceptance and coverage.

The training concluded with a formal closing ceremony, graced by distinguished guests:

PRCS KP Volunteers Participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar at Governor House

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Branch actively participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar held at the Governor House, Peshawar, as part of ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and community engagement across the province.

The event was graced by the presence of the Honorable Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, and Chairman PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Farzand Ali Wazir, alongside PRCS officials, staff, and volunteers.

A group photograph was taken featuring the Governor KP, Chairman PRCS KP, and the participating PRCS staff and volunteers, symbolizing unity, partnership, and shared commitment to improving public health awareness.

Promoting Health Awareness and Volunteerism

A total of 22 female and 12 male volunteers from PRCS KP took part in the seminar, reflecting the organization’s inclusive approach and its dedication to mobilizing youth and community members toward meaningful causes. The event emphasized the importance of early detection, education, and open discussion about breast cancer — a disease that continues to affect countless lives across Pakistan.

Chairman Farzand Ali Wazir highlighted PRCS’s dedication to public health initiatives, stating that awareness and education are vital tools in saving lives.

“Through such initiatives, PRCS continues to empower communities with knowledge and compassion. Our volunteers are at the forefront of promoting health awareness and supporting preventive healthcare efforts,” he said.
