Dir Lower: PRCS Organizes Winter Relief Activity for Vulnerable Communities Amid Cold Wave

Dir Lower – Acting on the special directions of the Honourable Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Dir Lower Branch organized a winter relief activity in response to the prevailing cold wave across the district. The initiative reflects PRCS’s unwavering commitment to extending timely humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable segments of society during harsh weather conditions.

Blanket Distribution at Dar-ul-Aman and District Jail

As part of the relief campaign, blankets were distributed among deserving individuals at the District Rehabilitation Centre (Dar-ul-Aman) and the District Jail, Dir Lower. The activity aimed to provide warmth and comfort to those facing severe winter conditions, particularly individuals with limited access to basic necessities.

The initiative was designed to ensure that marginalized and underserved populations, including women at the rehabilitation centre and inmates at the district jail, receive adequate protection against the cold wave.

Coordination Meeting with Jail Administration

Prior to the distribution at the District Jail, a coordination meeting was held with the Jail Superintendent. During the meeting, the jail administration briefed the visiting delegation on various challenges faced by prisoners, including issues related to living conditions and welfare needs.

Following the meeting, different sections of the jail were visited under the supervision of the Jail Superintendent and Akram Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief & Human Rights). The visit allowed PRCS representatives and district officials to assess conditions firsthand and ensure that the relief items were distributed transparently and efficiently.

Presence of District Administration

The relief activity was graced by the presence of Wajid Ali Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), and Mr. Akram Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief & Human Rights). Both officers highly appreciated the humanitarian efforts of PRCS Dir Lower and commended the organization’s proactive response to the cold wave.
