PRCS KP Launches CACRA Phase-III in Collaboration with University of Peshawar to Strengthen Climate Resilience

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Provincial Headquarters Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences UOP, hosted the Launching Ceremony of the CACRA Phase-III (Climate Advocacy and Coordination for Resilient Action), with the financial support of the German Red Cross (GRC). The initiative aims to enhance climate resilience in key regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The theme “Together for a Resilient Future,” the event brought together distinguished guests (Mr. Malik Habib Orakzai, Chairman, PRCS KP, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi (Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar), Mr. Asif Aman (Head of Office, GRC), Mr. Mr. Sajid Imran, Director Rehabilitation from PDMA KP attended the event as (Guest of Honor), Mr. Farzand Ali Wazir (Vice Chairman, PRCS KP), Mr. Imran Wazir (Vice Chairman, PRCS Merged Districts, Prof. Dr. Sardar Khan Chairman Deptt of Envi Sc., Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees, Deptt of Envi. Sc., Mr. Ayaz Ali AD- CCA, PRCS KP, Dr. Shahla Nazneen & Dr. Saeeda Yousaf AP- Deptt of Envi. Sc. University of Peshawar). The said event was also attended by Mr. Muhammad Abaid Ullah Khan, Secretary General, PRCS National Headquarters Islamabad, along with the Climate Change Deputy Director, Mr. Sajad Ali Kandhir.
The key presentations highlighted the strategic goals of CACRA, the role of the RCRC Movement, funding opportunities for climate initiatives, and the specific vulnerabilities and policy needs related to tourism and the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. This collaboration will also contribute to strengthen relation between the PRCS KP & Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Peshawar. In his keynote speech, Chairman PRCS KP, Habib Malik Orakzai, emphasized the alarming climate vulnerability and natural hazards existed and the recent warnings issued across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. He highlighted that PRCS KP commitments to strengthen early action, preparedness, and climate resilience, and paid tribute to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, for his leadership and active role in advocating for climate awareness at all levels to cover humanitarian response. Under his guidance, PRCS KP continues its efforts to reduce the negative impact across the region. This initiative marks a significant step forward in promoting climate advocacy and Coordination for resilient action for a resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the future.
Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) is a statutory body constituted and governed by an “Act of Parliament”. It was founded in Pakistan on December 20, 1947 by an Order called “The Pakistan Red Cross Order” issued by Quaid-e-Azam, as Governor General of Pakistan and Founding President of the Society.
