PRCSKP Expands Efforts beyond Emergency Response, Initiates Rehabilitation Phase for Flood-Affected Families
Peshawar [Press Release]: Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Habib Malik Orakzai stated that after providing extensive assistance to families affected by floods in the province, the rehabilitation of those affected in these areas is now a top priority for us. Therefore, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is starting the rehabilitation phase for the affected in the districts of Charsadda, Swat, Kohistan, and Dir Upper. The Other moment partners will also assist us in this regard.
The process of assessment before the rehabilitation of all four districts has been completed. These thoughts were expressed at a meeting of the PRCSKP’s Management Committee, where seven new members were included. During the occasion, new members were briefed and told that Pakistan Red Crescent is a part of the world Red Cross Red Crescent movement and was established under the act of parliament amended in 1974. the PRCSKP had so far provided assistance to more than 700,000 people during the recent flooding situation, which cost more than 770 million rupees. The emergency response operation has been completed. Now In these four affected districts, the rehabilitation process will be done on health and hygiene, rehabilitation of clean drinking water channels, reconstruction of the affected homes, and creating of opportunities for livelihoods.
During the meeting, newly co-opted members of the Management Committee including Binash Irfan Khan, Mrs Shad Begum, Ghulam Noorani Sethi, Dr Ahmed Wazir, Arbab Khizar Hayat, Assad Javed Zamir, and Hussain Javed were congratulated.
New members joining the Assembly have proposed various recommendations, including the establishment of blood banks in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, increasing the training of basic First Aid in government schools, colleges, and universities, organizing camps for free eye treatment in various locations in Peshawar, and setting up camps in different areas to collect relief funds for Turkey’s earthquake victims. These proposals have been approved under the supervision of Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Habib Malik and his team. The newly co-opted members expressed their willingness to work diligently and in collaboration to serve humanity under the leadership of the Red Crescent.
Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) is a statutory body constituted and governed by an “Act of Parliament”. It was founded in Pakistan on December 20, 1947 by an Order called “The Pakistan Red Cross Order” issued by Quaid-e-Azam, as Governor General of Pakistan and Founding President of the Society.
