PESHAWAR: Pakistan Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has distributed relief items worth more than Rs15 million to 300 more families of Nowshera flood victims. Relief materials include tent blankets, tarpaulin sheets, hygiene kits, and water buckets. The purpose was to distribute relief items in those vulnerable areas where the houses of the victims have been completely or partially destroyed by the flood. Since then, the value of relief materials provided to the flood victims in the province has exceeded Rs180 million. Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Sardar Shahid Ahmad Khan Leghari, chairman of The Pakistan Red Crescent National Society, said that the entire country is facing a flood situation. Where we are currently collecting data as well as trying to rescue people on priority and provide them shelter food and water and medical. At present, the process of distributing relief materials by The Pakistan Red Crescent is going on all over the Country. The most devastating flood is still wreaking havoc in Sindh. Where every day a new city is coming under water. The situation is similar in Balochistan, where it is estimated that 75 percent of the population of the two provinces is still in the water. While relief operations have started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the water level has decreased. So far, The PRCS has directly supported 40,000 families across Pakistan. Our staff and volunteers are working day and night. At present, the government, Pakistan Army, Navy, and NDMA are fully engaged in efforts to help the flood victims. While the Red Crescent is engaged as a subsidiary despite limited resources. We have also requested international donors. And because of this, today the Secretary General of the United Nations has reached Pakistan. From tomorrow, he will start to visit different flood-affected areas. So that the rest of the world can know what has happened in this country. We have appealed to other Red Cross and Red Crescent societies around the world to help us in this difficult time. That is why the Turkish Red Crescent Society, Qatar, Kuwait Red Crescent, Norwegian Red Cross, and German Red Cross are present here. We are also trying to set up a system in the future course of action so that people can be informed in advance. On the other hand, Habib Malik Orakzai, chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said that efforts are being made to help the flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the National Society is providing support to us. Therefore, we request that this cooperation be further increased so that more and more people can be helped.
